In 1901, Sartori Kato invented the first process for manufacturing a stable powdered product. He had developed a process for making instant tea by quickly dehydrating it.

Instant coffee is a type of coffee that has been pre-mixed and then sealed in an airtight container. It's pre-packaged and ready to drink. The most famous instant coffee brands are Maxwell House, Nescafe and Folgers.

Many people enjoy instant coffee because it is easy to make with just hot water. You don't need any fancy gadgets or equipment for making it either, all you need is a cup of water and you can enjoy.

It is also more economical than fresh ground beans because the powder mix needs less preparation, such as roasting and grinding, before it can be used.

Who Popularized the Product?

Where this novelty found its niche market was in the military. Caffeine consumption on the battlefield provided a much-needed boost, and now this was made much easier with instant coffee. In World War I some soldiers nicknamed it a “cup of George.” This is because George Washington loved coffee, and during the Revolutionary War, British officers would often taunt American soldiers by saying they were giving them ‘a cup of freedom

Instant coffee is gaining popularity among the military, who need a boost when tackling their fights. It's will make it easier to get that caffeine after fighting without having to worry about waiting for it to brew. In World War I some soldiers nicknamed it a “cup of George.” ³

Instant coffee became widely popular with soldiers during World War II. By the time the war ended, various companies had emerged to meet demand. In 1944, a Nescafe plant in the U.S., made more than one million cases of instant coffee- an impressive achievement for a business that had only been around for about 10 years at that point

Instant coffee is still a particularly strong player in the market. It works well even for recipes like a quick mocha frosting to be used for an iced cappuccino cookie. When you visit grocery stores, you can see artificial sweeteners in instant cappuccino drinks and blended ice drink powders. These same sweeteners are also used by coffee houses. The military also has instant coffee powder available. It's easy to carry and there for you when you need it most, even if just for a quick pick-me-up.

In the 1950s, Nestlé introduced Nescafé instant coffee to the rest of the world. The first incarnation was just called “Nescafé”, but later on they released other varieties like Gold Blend and Rich Roast. Today there are several different brands of instant coffee available in supermarkets around the world, including Nescafé Dolce Gusto (popular in Europe) and Folgers (popular in North America).
