Questions to Ask Your Coffee Catering Provider

Questions to Ask Your Coffee Catering Provider

Are you looking for a mobile coffee bar to cater to an event, and don’t know how to go about doing it? Whether it’s the right questions to ask or even the right company to work with, these are some of the questions you should ask your potential caterer.

 1. What is your main area of business?

Your catering company should have a specialty in coffee drinks. Ask them how long they have been practicing coffee crafting. If they have been in business for more than a year or two, they should have a good idea on what they are doing! Ask them what coffee beans they use and if they are certified in any coffee bean grading.

2. Do you roast coffee beans on site?

This is very important because roasting on site can give you a fresher and better tasting coffee beans. Ask the company if they roast on site and if not, where do they get their beans from? You can purchase roasted beans from local roasters or on the internet, but the coffee might not be fresh or you might have to send it in well in advance. How fresh is the coffee if you buy it online? Does the company have a good record of handling coffee?

3. What kind of coffee drinks do you offer?

Coffee is a very broad drink. It can be blended with other ingredients or served alone. Do you want hot or cold coffee? Do you want it sweet or plain? Do you want flavored coffee drinks or just blended iced coffees? Asking questions during the planning stages will give you a better Are you insured?

It is very important to ask if the vendor is insured. This will protect you if the vendor is the cause of an accident or if injuries occur whilst at your event.

4. Ask for their references!

This should be your final question if you are getting close to hiring the company. Ask for at least three references. Call them up and ask about how long they have used the catering company and if they would use them again. You can also ask if when they used the company, they were pleased with the service they received.

5. How do you keep the coffee hot?

Plenty of coffee is offered at room temperature because it doesn't taste as good when it's hot. Your catering company should be able to offer freshly brewed cups of coffee or tea. If they do not have a professional coffee/ tea brewer, it is unlikely that they will be able to maintain the coffee hot.

6. What is your pricing structure?

This is one of the biggest questions you need to ask your potential mobile coffee bar caterer, and it is important to get an idea of what the pricing structure is before you agree to anything. Be sure to get a breakdown of delivery charges and beverage charges, if any. Do the charges include the price of the coffee beans or do you get to choose which kind of beans you want?

7. Are you insured?

It is very important to ask if the vendor is insured. This will protect you if the vendor is the cause of an accident or if injuries occur whilst at your event.
